The Ticklers are an eclectic 7 piece Swing-Jazz/Klezmer ensemble made up of amongst other things violin, accordions, saxophones, clarinet, trumpet/trombone, bass, guitar, junk percussion and vocals. Musical influences thrown into the mix include everything from voodoo to metal to gypsy-jazz to polka dances all shifted and shaped to fit into a unique Klezmery-swing sound that is instantly recognisable and yet strangely and wonderfully different to quite possibly anything you’ve ever heard. The band members’ combined musical experiences has included work with a diverse range of well-known groups including Monsieur Camembert, The Jews Brothers, Nadya’s 101 Candles Orkestra, Mukka, Lulo Reinhardt Project, The Six Volts, Tango Saloon, and Eye of Chaos amongst many others. Performance highlights have included a number of appearances at the Big Laugh International Comedy Festival in Parramatta, "Sleepless City" with aerial circus theatre troupe Aerialise, Woodford Folk Festival and even the Cole Classic Swimming Championship amongst countless other appearances at festivals, bar mitzvahs and pubs around the country. The Ticklers are: Daniel Weltlinger (violin, vocals), Phillipe Witwer (accordion, vocals), Eduoard Bronson (accordion, saxophones, clarinet), Neill Duncan (saxophones, clarinet, junk percussion/toys), Sam Golding (trumpet, trombone, tuba, sousaphone, flute); Nigel Date (guitars, bass); John Maddox (bass, kazoo, vocals). |
